Kolkata: Zee 5 has unveiled its most ambitious Bangla content slate to date under the banner Notun Banglar, Notun Golpo (New Bengal. New Stories.), expanding its entertainment portfolio across original series, films, live sports, AI-powered storytelling, animation and kids’ content.
The announcement marks a significant strategic push by the streaming platform to deepen its presence in the Bengali entertainment market while broadening its appeal to audiences beyond the region. The new slate combines returning flagship franchises with a wide range of fresh originals and new-format storytelling experiences.
As part of the expansion, Bangla Zee 5 has announced new and continuing collaborations with several leading Bengali production houses, including Acropolis Entertainment, Surinder Films, Why So Serious?, Anjan Dutta Productions, Eye Wash Entertainment, Raj Chakraborty Entertainment and Vikram Chatterjee Films, among others.
The platform is bringing back some of its most successful original franchises, including Lalbazaar 2 featuring Anirban Bhattacharya and directed by Shayantan Ghoshal; Shwetkali 2 starring Oindrila Sen and Surangana Banerjee, directed by Sani Ghosh Roy; Shikarpur 2 directed by Nirjhar and starring Ankush; and Kaalipotka 2 directed by Abhirup Ghosh, featuring Swastika, Shruti, Sheya and Himika. The slate also includes Mahaproloy, starring Saswata Chatterjee and directed by Raj Chakraborty, which will continue the story world of Abar Proloy 2.
Alongside these returning titles, Zee 5 is introducing a diverse line-up of new Bangla originals spanning crime thrillers, romance, comedy and contemporary drama. The slate includes Aloor Dosh, Taarkata, Prem Shots, Osthir, Priyo Bondhu, Bakhtiyar er Swarnamudra, Nari Choritro Bejay Jotil and Nibba Nibbi, featuring a mix of established and emerging Bengali talent.
In a notable move toward emerging formats, the platform is also expanding into AI-powered and animated storytelling, with Bangla versions of titles such as Garud – Ek Yodha Ki Gatha, Narmada Manasa Sundari, Vikram Betal, Shiv Sati – Ek Anant Prem Kahani, Param Sundari Chandrakanta, Tirupati Balaji, Ram Anjaney Yuddh and Aiyappan, along with children’s content including Shivlok Ke Kundakka Mandakka.
Beyond entertainment content, Zee 5 is strengthening its live sports offering with access to major football properties including FIFA, Bundesliga and Coppa Italia, targeting Bengal’s large and passionate football audience.
