Chennai: Sony Pictures Networks India has announced Celebrity MasterChef Tamil, a new celebrity-led adaptation of the globally popular culinary format, with actor Samantha Ruth Prabhu set to headline the show.
The series will air on Sony VIZHA and stream on Sony LIV, bringing together celebrities from the Tamil entertainment industry as they compete in a series of culinary challenges.
Produced by Banijay Asia, the show will combine the established MasterChef format with Tamil flavours, personalities and entertainment. The celebrity contestants will move from the entertainment industry into the kitchen, taking on cooking challenges, twists and competitive tasks.
The programme will be a key entertainment offering for Sony VIZHA, while Sony LIV and the network’s digital platforms will carry exclusive short-form content around the contestants, their culinary experiences and behind-the-scenes moments.
Speaking about the show, Samantha said the format offered her an opportunity to explore a side of celebrities that audiences do not usually see on screen. She also hinted at the participation of several familiar faces from Tamil entertainment, without revealing the contestant lineup.
Celebrity MasterChef Tamil is slated to premiere soon across Sony VIZHA and Sony LIV, with additional content planned across the network’s digital and social platforms.
