Delhi: Game Developers Association of India (GDAI) has announced the first cohort of 15 game studios selected for Supernova, its nationwide incubation programme aimed at supporting pre-revenue game studios and original game intellectual properties.
Launched in July 2026, Supernova is being conducted in partnership with Tencent, IVIPRO, SpielFabrique, Indus Appstore, Mintegral and Lakshya Digital. The three-month programme will provide participating studios with customised mentorship, access to investors and publishers, industry credits, AI-led development support and opportunities to showcase their games at leading industry platforms.
The inaugural cohort was selected from more than 260 applications received from game studios across India. According to GDAI, the response highlights the growing pool of game development talent and the pipeline of original intellectual property being created by Indian studios.
The programme is designed to help early-stage studios transform game concepts and prototypes into commercially viable and globally competitive businesses. Its curriculum will cover areas including game art, engineering and technical pipelines, team building, live operations, monetisation, go-to-market strategies and marketing, alongside one-on-one mentorship from industry veterans.
Rajan Navani, Board Member and Chairperson, GDAI Incubation Subcommittee, said, “The selection of this inaugural cohort marks the beginning of a focused journey for these 15 studios. Over the next three months, Supernova will bring together mentors, technology partners, publishers and investors to help each studio address its specific development and business priorities. We look forward to seeing the cohort translate this support into stronger games, clearer commercial pathways and compelling showcases at the Demo Day during IGDC.”
The 15 studios selected for the inaugural Supernova cohort are Absurd Games, Team Quasar, AbhiTech Games, Konkan Coast Studios, Dunali Games, Chitrakala Interactive, Ashdev Studios, Compiling Shaders, Brahman Studios, Yaari Games, Funwave Studio, Arcadon Games, Shivaansh Artvision, AnonVision Creative Labs and Parkince.
The selection process assessed applicants on factors including team strength, originality and potential of their game concepts, entrepreneurial mindset, commitment to the programme, alignment with Supernova’s support offerings and evidence of market validation. The jury comprised industry leaders from the global gaming and interactive entertainment ecosystem.
Speaking about the partnership, Priya Narasimhan, Chief Business Officer, Indus Appstore said, “At Indus Appstore, we are deeply committed to helping India’s gaming ecosystem grow and enabling homegrown studios to build for scale. GDAI’s Supernova program is a strong step in that direction. As a partner, our team is excited to work closely with these studios through hands-on mentorship, while also supporting their growth with priority onboarding on Indus Appstore and ad credits to kick-start user acquisition. We look forward to seeing these studios showcase their potential and, ultimately, build successful gaming brands from India for the world.”
Supernova forms part of GDAI’s broader efforts to strengthen India’s game creation ecosystem by supporting original IP development, sustainable business building and connections with global markets. GDAI currently represents more than 200 member studios and its initiatives span talent development, global outreach, policy advocacy and industry development.
The programme will conclude with a Demo Day at the India Game Developers Conference (IGDC) later this year, where participating studios will have the opportunity to present their games to global publishers, investors and other industry stakeholders.
