Mumbai: Godrej Industries has approved the appointment of Pirojsha Godrej as Whole-Time Director, designated as Executive Chairperson, marking the formal handover of leadership to the next generation of the Godrej family.
The company’s board, at its meeting on Thursday, approved Pirojsha’s appointment for a five-year term from August 14, 2026, to August 13, 2031, subject to shareholder approval. He will also assume the role of Chairperson of the Godrej Industries Group from August 14.
The appointment comes following the retirement of Nadir Godrej as Chairman and Managing Director, completing a succession process that the company has described as a planned generational transition.
Pirojsha had been named Chairperson-Designate of both Godrej Industries and the Godrej Industries Group on April 13, 2026, with the board indicating at the time that he would take over the chairmanship from August 14.
A third-generation member of the Godrej family, Pirojsha currently serves as Chairperson of Godrej Properties, Godrej Capital and Godrej Ventures. Prior to taking on the wider group leadership responsibilities, he led the real estate business at Godrej Properties and played a key role in establishing both Godrej Capital and Godrej Ventures.
Pirojsha is the son of Adi Godrej, Chairman Emeritus of the Godrej Group, and belongs to the company’s promoter group. He is the brother of Executive Director and Chief Branding Officer Tanya Dubash and Non-Executive Director Nisaba Godrej, and the nephew of outgoing Chairman Nadir Godrej.
As part of the governance process, the board also approved a postal ballot notice dated August 13 to seek shareholders’ approval for his appointment. The company has fixed August 14, 2026, as the cut-off date for determining shareholders eligible to vote on the resolution.
Separately, Godrej Industries updated the list of key managerial personnel authorised to determine the materiality of corporate events and make disclosures to stock exchanges with effect from August 14. The authorised executives include Vishal Sharma, Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer – Chemicals, Clement Pinto, Chief Financial Officer, and Anupama Kamble, Company Secretary and Compliance Officer.
The leadership transition is expected to usher in the next phase of strategic direction for the diversified Godrej Industries Group, spanning businesses across chemicals, real estate, financial services and consumer-focused ventures.
