Mumbai: Motherland, the design-first Indian lifestyle brand known for its interpretation of pop culture, subcultures and contemporary Indian life, has launched its new ‘Made in India’ collection, combining minimalist design with a contemporary expression of Indian identity. The launch also marks the appointment of MMA fighter Asha “The Knockout Queen” Roka as Motherland’s Digital Ambassador.
The new collection draws from Motherland’s longstanding inspiration — India — and extends the brand’s design language into a more direct visual expression of cultural identity. Beyond clothing, Motherland’s lifestyle portfolio spans accessories, art and its collectible quarterly magazine, drawing inspiration from Indian cities, cultures, narratives, emerging trends and everyday references.
The ‘Made in India’ collection takes this approach forward through a typography-led design language, placing powerful words representing homeland at the centre of its pieces. The collection includes polos, T-shirts, 70s-inspired ringer tees, crop T-shirts and tank tops across unisex and women’s fits.
Featuring words such as ‘INDIA’, ‘भारत’, ‘SWADESHI’ and ‘MADE IN INDIA’, the collection adopts a clean and minimal aesthetic, allowing the typography and silhouettes to take centre stage. The range is positioned as an everyday expression of Indian pride for consumers seeking to carry the spirit of India through contemporary fashion.
The campaign also brings together fashion and sport through Roka’s association with the collection. A rising MMA star and the first Indian woman to secure a 9-second knockout, Roka represents a contemporary expression of Indian ambition built around discipline, persistence and breaking into spaces where Indian representation continues to grow.
Rather than using a conventional fashion campaign format, Motherland has placed Roka within the physical environment of MMA, capturing her through the intensity and physicality of her sport. The collaboration brings together two distinct expressions of modern India — design and sport.
Asha Roka, MMA Fighter said, “I’ve always felt that representing India is about more than where you come from. It’s also about what you choose to do with your journey and how you carry that identity with you. That’s what connected me to Motherland and this collection. The designs are simple but they have a strong presence, and that feels very close to how I approach my own work; stay true to who you are and let that speak for itself.”
The ‘Made in India’ collection is now available at Motherland Superstore.
