Artificial Intelligence-driven avatars are already part and parcel of influencer marketing. Today, through AI-enhanced avatars, brands are offered the opportunity of capitalizing on influencer marketing’s power without dealing with the unpredictability attached to human influencers. However, the big question remains – can an audience connect with a non-existent character? Thus, the key challenge for brands in this area will be to find an equilibrium between creativity generated by Artificial Intelligence and the human authenticity that was behind the emergence of influencer marketing says Prerak Manish Shah, Co-founder and Technology Lead in Data Infrastructure and AI at Cogniify.ai.

  • How AI is Revolutionizing Influencer Marketing: Brands are now able to create virtual influencers, make many versions of the content aimed at different audience groups, and apply AI to find creators that would be able to drive meaningful engagement. The technology is also able to analyze audience reaction in real-time, thus assisting brands in modifying their campaigns before spending the money. The opportunity is great but the risk is equally high: if the content is excessively polished, predictable, or artificial, it can cause audience doubts about its authenticity. The future is to use AI technology to make influence better, not to create it.
  • Smarter Campaign Management: IAI is capable of managing tasks that consume a lot of time. Tasks that can be managed by AI including drafting contracts, processing approvals, and tracking success of campaigns. AI provides timely information regarding performance, engagement, and audience feelings. AI is also able to detect bots and other dubious accounts on time, so that brands do not squander their resources.
  • Rise of AI-Generated Influencers: While audiences appreciate the creativity and story-telling abilities of AI, they still want a human behind the content. Although the AI influencer may be very polished in its appearance, it can still be seen as distant, unemotional, and predictable.
  • Hyper-Personalization at Scale: Thinking about the case where an influencer suggests the product you need just when you are ready to buy it? That’s where AI is moving influencer marketing at the moment. With the use of past browsing activities, likes, searches, and purchases, AI can allow brands to create different messages for different audiences rather than reaching everyone with the same message. For example, the skincare influencer may offer sunscreen to someone researching summer skincare while one of her followers may receive an offer for a moisturizer depending on his or her interests. The timing of the ads can be tailored as well.
  • The Authenticity Challenge: Individuals relate to producers as they share authentic life experiences, viewpoints and imperfections which cannot be faithfully reproduced by an AI digression. For instance, a chatbot may advertise a cleansing item but it has not had to face spots or apply the item. Moreover, spotless faces from AI forms also contribute to unrealistic standards of beauty. Making paid partnership difficult to recognize invisibly makes a difference between the honest recommendation and advertisement less detectable. Advanced technology is great, but realness is present only in being human.
  • Ethical Considerations: The most difficult hurdle facing AI influencer marketing is striking the proper balance between innovation and authenticity. Customers can lose trust in a brand when virtual influencers even resemble people too closely but fail to make it clear that they are synthesized, or promote products they are unable to genuinely experience. Moreover, there are worries about excessive beauty standards, biased algorithms, and the legitimate collection and application of personal data. As companies turn to AI, they should be transparent regarding its employment, to foster trust among consumers.
  • AI Should Enhance, Not Replace, Human Creativity: Customers can lose trust in a brand when virtual influencers even resemble people too closely but fail to make it clear that they are synthesized, or promote products they are unable to genuinely experience. Moreover, there are worries about excessive beauty standards, biased algorithms, and the legitimate collection and application of personal data. As companies turn to AI, they should be transparent regarding its employment, to foster trust among consumers.
  • Business Opportunities: Brands can create digital identities that operate in different markets, languages and time zones as well as employ artificial intelligence software for identifying suitable creators depending on their audience and campaign metrics.

Challenges: On one hand, AI can help create influencer content more quickly and with a greater reach; on the other hand, however, audiences are very likely to recognize when the content has been made too smooth, monotonous, and artificial. Also, there are worries about clearer ethics when it comes to the issues like deepfake, copyright, privacy, and using AI-generated characters with no explanations.

Way Forward: Maybe the greatest hurdle is knowing where the thin line lies between innovation and authenticity. On one hand, AI can help create influencer content more quickly and with a greater reach; on the other hand, however, audiences are very likely to recognize when the content has been made too smooth, monotonous, and artificial. For brands, it is not enough to make use of AI they need to ensure that they still remain trustworthy.

The use of virtual influencers, advanced analytics and automated content can increase the speed and quality of campaigns, although technology cannot provide the real connection that is needed. Rather, the main opportunity is presented by the consistent use of AI for the improvement of creativity. Those companies able to use technology in a reasonable way, respecting the boundaries of human creativity will surely prevail in the field.
