New Delhi: VETO, India’s subscription-free OTT platform, has acquired the exclusive OTT streaming rights for the Billie Jean King Cup 2026 in India, expanding its portfolio of premium live sports content.
The acquisition comes shortly after VETO announced exclusive OTT streaming rights for the Davis Cup 2026. The two properties give the platform access to two of the most prominent team competitions in global tennis within its first year of operations.
Recognised as the Women’s World Cup of Tennis, the Billie Jean King Cup brings together national teams featuring leading players from across the world. The 2026 Finals are scheduled to take place in Shenzhen, China, from September 22 to 27, with eight nations competing in the knockout stage. Two-time defending champions Italy will be aiming for a third consecutive title.
The latest rights acquisition marks VETO’s continued push into premium live sports as the platform expands its broader content offering. Since launching in September 2025, VETO has grown to more than 60 live TV channels and added web series to its on-demand catalogue, with programming spanning 12 languages and more than 10 genres.
Sports is emerging as a key content pillar for VETO alongside news, entertainment, movies, music, devotional and kids programming. The platform sees live sporting events as an opportunity to drive appointment viewing, repeat engagement and shared viewing, particularly across Connected TV audiences.
Earlier this year, India hosted the Billie Jean King Cup Asia/Oceania Group I stage at the Delhi Lawn Tennis Association Stadium in New Delhi from April 7 to 11. India finished third in the six-nation group and retained its Group I status for 2027 after concluding its campaign with a 2–1 win over South Korea.
Ritu Dhawan, Managing Director, VETO, said, “VETO has been focused on building a differentiated subscription-free content destination for Indian audiences. In less than a year, we have expanded to 60+ live channels, entered the web series space, and grown our presence across 12 languages and 10+ genres. The acquisition of both the Davis Cup and Billie Jean King Cup reflects our long-term commitment to building live sports as a key pillar of VETO.”
