Jakarta: Vidio, Indonesia’s leading OTT streaming platform, has partnered with short-form drama platform ReelShort to expand its short-drama offering for Indonesian audiences. Under the partnership, hundreds of ReelShort titles will be available on Vidio from September 1 through a dedicated Short Drama tab for subscribers on the TV Extra, Platinum, Platinum Extra and Ultimate packages.
The offering will include titles across genres such as romance, billionaire romance, fantasy and family drama, with a wide selection available in Indonesian dubbing and subtitles. More than 200 titles will initially be fully dubbed in Indonesian, while the partnership will also include a slate of short-drama series co-produced with Indonesian production houses and talent.
The collaboration is aimed at combining ReelShort’s global expertise in short-form storytelling with local production capabilities and deeper localisation. It will also create opportunities for Indonesian creative talent to gain production knowledge and experience from ReelShort’s global short-drama operations.
Brokered by AR Global Media Network, the partnership marks ReelShort’s first Indonesian collaboration and follows its expansion across Southeast Asia through partnerships with AIS in Thailand and Globe in the Philippines. The deal provides ReelShort with a new distribution platform in Indonesia, while strengthening Vidio’s presence in the growing short-form drama segment.
According to Media Partners Asia (MPA), ReelShort currently holds an estimated 29% share of global short-form drama market revenue, while Indonesia accounts for 39% of Asia-Pacific’s short-form drama audience, making it the region’s largest market for the format. Data from mobile advertising company Mintegral also indicates that short-form drama apps have recorded quarterly growth of 50%-200% since Q3 2023.

“Vidio continues to evolve alongside the changing ways Indonesians consume entertainment. As audiences increasingly look for content that fits seamlessly into their daily lives, we want to ensure they can find every type of entertainment they love on a single platform, from live sports, local originals, global entertainment to now, the rapidly growing format of short dramas. Our partnership with ReelShort not only responds to this emerging audience demand but also strengthens Vidio’s position as Indonesia’s most comprehensive entertainment platform, offering more choice, greater convenience, and an even richer viewing experience for our subscribers,” said Sutanto Hartono, CEO of Vidio.

Joey Jia, Founder and CEO of Crazy Maple Studio, owner of ReelShort, said, “Our partnership with Vidio marks a significant milestone in ReelShort’s Southeast Asia growth strategy and reflects a fundamental shift in how audiences are consuming entertainment. Micro-dramas are rapidly moving from an emerging format into the mainstream, and the decision by a major OTT platform like Vidio to bring ReelShort to its millions of viewers demonstrates the growing appetite for short-form, highly engaging storytelling. Indonesia is one of the region’s most dynamic entertainment markets. We see tremendous potential not only to expand access to our global catalogue, but also to create original stories for Indonesian audiences. Through our planned local productions with Vidio and Indonesian production partners, we look forward to combining ReelShort’s global experience in developing high-performing short-drama IP with local creative talent to build stories and franchises that resonate locally while reaching audiences across the region and beyond.”
The partnership also builds on Vidio’s position in Indonesia’s streaming market. According to the latest MPA and AMPD Online Video Consumer Insights: Southeast Asia Q2 2026 report, Vidio holds the largest share of SVOD subscriptions in Indonesia at 20.7%. In Q2 2026, the platform reached 5.8 million paid subscribers across Southeast Asia, ranking third regionally.
“Indonesia is one of the most competitive streaming markets in Southeast Asia, with strong demand for both local and international content. Vidio’s position as the platform with the largest share of SVOD subscriptions in Indonesia, at 20.7%, reflects its ability to build scale through a deep understanding of the local market, supported by strong local content and engagement across categories. This position also highlights the increasingly important role of local platforms in shaping the streaming landscape across Southeast Asia,” said Vivek Couto, CEO & Executive Director of Media Partners Asia (MPA).
Starting September 1, ReelShort’s short-drama catalogue will be accessible through Vidio’s Short Drama tab for subscribers on the eligible packages, expanding the platform’s offering alongside live sports, television, licensed content and Vidio Original Series.
