Chennai: There can’t be a better way to connect with the people of a Tamilnadu than becoming a Dhoti clad and the senior leaders of Viacom18 did exactly the same and thrilled the Media gathering and in-fact stole the hearts of Tamils.

The Group CEO of Viacom 18, Sudhansu Vats, is a man who could always be seen with Suit and Boot with plush professional dressing and look. But, when he appeared with the traditional and trade markattire of Tamil Nadu, the White and White Silk Dhoti and Angavastram (Lengthy Silk towel), he comfortably stole the hearts of Tamils at ease and went on to the stage for presentation.

The other members of the Viacom18 family Ravish Kumar, the Head of Regional Entertainment – Viacom18 and AnupChandrasekharan, the Business Head – Colors Tamil also joined him with similar attires and the trio where aptly sporting the look of a brothers of traditional Tamil family that reminds us of the popular join-family story based Tamil films and TV Shows.

Speaking on Colors Tamil launch, Sudhansu Vats – Group CEO of Viacom18 said, “We are the leader or leading channel in seven languages that we operate which includes five regional languages Kannada, Marathi, Gujarati, Bengali and Odia and we are now entering Tamilnadu and it indeed my pleasure to say ‘Vanakkam’ to Colors Tamil to Tamilnadu as we enter the biggest regional market both from viewership and monetisation point of view as the adspend is nearly INR 2000 Cr with a daily time spent per viewer of 3 hours”

Ravish Kumar, Head – Regional Entertainment – Viacom18 said, “Colors Tamil will be known for its content as it is designed to be disruptive, differentiated, through provoking and social conscious because our shows celebrate the inner strengthen of the women as they tackle larger social evils. While our shows focus on Kitchen Politics and social squabbles, our protagonists actually face the issues head and they serve as an inspiration to others around them. Colors Tamil will present all its shows with cinematic quality written by best writers shot by best cinematographers in exotic real locations all over the state. They will bring alive the richness in every shows as they where shot in Alexa Cameras with 5.1 DollbySound. Its going to be the first time something like this has come to the television screens in India and it will change the way Television content is made in this market.”

We believe that Tamil Nadu is a powerhouse of Talent with able writers, Directors and Technicians. We will nurture their talents by providing them opportunities to display their home grown ideas across variety of platforms like Cinema, Digital and Television” added Ravish.

AnupChandrasekharan, Business Head – Colors Tamil, “Tamilnadu stands for their Colorful though process in cognizance with Colors Franchise of Viacom18. As we enter this market, we wanted to make sure that we stand out from others existing players. So I travelled across the length and breath of Tamilnadu to understand the preferences of TV audience for more than a year and we understood that they are unhappy with the way women are being projected as a very weak force, instead they wanted them to be projected as the symbol of empowerment. Hence, the Protagonists of all our shows will be bold and strong. With this approach we are offering Purpose Driven Entertainment to the viewers of Colors Tamil, thus ensuring a social drive towards empowering women.”

Colors Tamil has curated three striking shows that portray strong women protagonists breaking the shackles of the society namely ‘Velunachi’, ‘Sivagami’, ‘Perazhagi’and the reality show ‘Enge Veetu Maapilai’ will feature the hunt for the ideal match for Brand ambassador & Kollywood Superstar Arya.
