Few days after Meta India chief Ajit Mohan quit the company and joined Snap, WhatsApp India Head Abhijit Bose and Meta’s public policy director Rajiv Aggarwal stepped down.
Meanwhile, Shivnath Thukral, Director of WhatsApp Public Policy in India, has now been appointed as the Director, Public Policy for all Meta brands in India. The company is yet to announce Bose’s replacement.
Announcing his departure in a LinkedIn post, Bose wrote, “After four amazing years at WhatsApp, I have taken the call to move on from Meta. This decision has not been an easy one for me. WhatsApp is one of the most special products in the world, and being a small part of it has been a unique experience and privilege of a lifetime for me.”
“In 2019, we started with three people, no business plan, and a lot of headwinds! Four years later, I’m very proud of the strong organization that we’ve built in India, as well as the business results and market impact that the team has delivered. In particular, we built a team with an entrepreneurial mindset and pushed many ideas, experiments & pilots. Some failed, some went well, and a few, in my opinion, have the potential to change the country and maybe even our company,” the post read.
“WhatsApp has the potential and opportunity to change the World. I hope that we keep our ambition and aggressiveness for impact, outsized and beyond what others think is achievable,” said Bose.
Bose joined WhatsApp in February 2019 from Ezetap where he was the co-founder and CEO.
