25% of Indian mobile consumers plan to spend over Rs 50,000 this festive season: Glance report

As India approaches the festive season, Glance, a leading Smart Lock Screen platform, has launched “The Marketer’s Guide to India’s Festive Season.” This report outlines key consumer trends and evolving shopping behaviors, providing valuable insights for marketers and advertisers.

According to a survey of mobile users in India, festive shopping remains strong, with 91% of respondents planning purchases. Over 77% reported increased budgets compared to last year, and 25% are willing to spend over ₹50,000. Mobile is the preferred shopping platform, with 43% shopping a few times a week and 11% daily. This year, 85% plan to use shopping apps, up from 78% last year. The top online categories include clothing and accessories (87%), confectionery gift packs (64%), and beauty products (61%).

While online shopping dominates, offline and hybrid experiences still play a role. Thirteen percent of respondents prefer in-store shopping, and 50% favor hybrid methods, a slight decline from 54% last year. Key offline categories include jewellery (67%) and clothing (63%).

Vasuta Agarwal, Chief Business Officer,InMobi ,said, “Glance’s strength lies in its ability to engage users directly from the lock screen, with 50% of our users accessing e-commerce apps, and nearly 30% Glance users turning to quick commerce apps daily. This makes the lock screen a powerful platform, offering brands a unique opportunity to provide direct product visibility, engage high-intent audiences, and drive seamless conversions—all without the user even unlocking their phone.”

“Our report provides valuable insights into creating impactful, hyper-personalized campaigns across multiple platforms and touchpoints, with a special focus on Glance’s Smart Lock Screen, helping brands connect with consumers from their first mobile interaction,” she added. 

The report identifies three buyer personas: Experience Seekers, who value social experiences; Convenience-Savvy Consumers, who rely on quick-commerce for last-minute needs; and Traditional Enthusiasts, who focus on cultural rituals and home preparation.

With over 230 million monthly active users in India, Glance provides powerful solutions for advertisers, enabling seamless content discovery and engaging high-intent audiences. Their AI-driven platform offers a variety of content directly on Android lock screens, making it easy for users to access relevant information without unlocking their phones.
