The Hindu Crowned Champion at WAN-IFRA Digital Media Awards South Asia 2025

With 10 wins across 12 categories, including top honours in AI, video, and podcasting, The Hindu cements its digital leadership in the region.

The Hindu named ‘Champion of Digital Media Awards South Asia 2025’ at WAN-IFRA Event

Chennai: The Hindu has been honoured as the ‘Champion of Digital Media Awards South Asia 2025’ at the prestigious WAN-IFRA Digital Media Awards South Asia, reaffirming its leadership and innovation in digital journalism. Held in Chennai on Wednesday, the awards were presented by the World Association of News Publishers (WAN-IFRA) and witnessed participation from leading newsrooms across the South Asian region.

The Hindu secured 10 awards across 12 competitive categories, including four golds, three silvers, and three bronze trophies, cementing its position at the forefront of digital publishing.

The gold wins included:

Best Use of Video and Best Native Advertising Campaign for The Hindu Made of Chennai initiative

Best Use of AI in Revenue Strategy

Best Podcast for In Focus: Why does the Election Commission need seven phases to conduct the General Election?

Silver trophies were awarded in:

Best Data Visualisation for How India voted: A retrospective from 1952 – 2024

Best Use of AI in Revenue Strategy

Best Digital Subscription

The bronze accolades recognised The Hindu’s efforts in:

Data Visualisation (for its report on the Kallakurichi hooch tragedy)

The Champion of Digital Media Awards South Asia 2025 title was presented to The Hindu by Magdoom Mohamed, Managing Director of South Asia at WAN-IFRA, and Mariam Mammen Mathew, Vice-President of WAN-IFRA and CEO of Manorama Online.

Receiving the award, L.V. Navaneeth, CEO of The Hindu Group, said, “The overall champion publisher award means a lot because it reflects the work done by multiple departments and team members. Good work happens only when people come together.”

Suresh Nambath, Editor of The Hindu, also accepted the award alongside Navaneeth.

Magdoom Mohamed noted, “These awards are designed to recognise excellence in digital publishing and to celebrate the outstanding work done by publishers across South Asia.”
