JioHotstar introduces monthly plans across tiers, expands choice for viewers
Share Share ShareShare

Mumbai: JioHotstar has announced an updated subscription proposition for new subscribers, effective January 28, 2026. As part of the move, the platform is introducing monthly plans across all tiers—Mobile, Super and Premium—starting at ₹79 per month, aimed at making premium entertainment more accessible while reflecting evolving viewing habits.

The new pricing structure brings added flexibility, with monthly plans now available alongside existing quarterly and annual options across tiers. This change is designed to cater both to individuals who primarily consume content on smartphones and to families seeking high-quality entertainment on Connected TVs. JioHotstar has witnessed explosive growth in large-screen consumption over the past 11 months since launch, and the revised pricing aims to enhance the viewing experience across devices.

For new subscribers, Hollywood entertainment will be included within the Super and Premium tiers. Mobile-tier users will continue to have access to Hollywood content through a flexible add-on, allowing viewers to customise their subscription based on preferences. To ensure continuity, there will be no change in price or benefits for existing subscribers, provided auto-renewals remain active.

The announcement comes at a significant milestone in JioHotstar’s growth journey. The platform has crossed 1 billion downloads on Google Play and now serves over 450 million monthly active users across 100% of India’s pin-codes, placing it among a small group of platforms globally operating at this scale. With a library of more than 300,000 hours of content spanning languages and genres, the updated subscription framework is aimed at supporting deeper connected-TV experiences, mobile-led discovery, and continued investments in content and technology.

Commenting on the update, Sushant Sreeram, Head – SVOD Business & Chief Marketing Officer, JioStar, said, “As we continue building India’s most expansive and inclusive entertainment ecosystem it’s important that our subscription choices keep pace with how audience want to watch. We are privileged to serve the most dynamic and diverse entertainment audience in the world, and we are constantly investing and inventing to ensure we provide viewers not just the world’s best entertainment but also the world’s best viewing and access experience. This update brings greater flexibility and choice across subscription needs, while supporting long-term investments in premium storytelling, the best of live-sports, and a high-quality streaming experience at scale for our audiences.”

Under the new plans for new subscribers, the Mobile tier starts at ₹79 per month with access on one mobile device at a time and ad-supported viewing, excluding Hollywood content unless added on. The Super tier, starting at ₹149 per month, allows access on up to two devices and includes Hollywood content with ads. The Premium tier, starting at ₹299 per month, offers access on up to four devices with an ad-free experience, except for live sports and live shows.

In less than a year since launch, JioHotstar has built a comprehensive entertainment ecosystem encompassing major sporting IPs, programming from over 100 network channels, creator-led content through Sparks, live cultural events, flagship originals, blockbuster films, a large kids and family library, a dedicated anime hub, and an expansive international catalogue spanning Hollywood and beyond.
