Mumbai: MYFANDOM, India’s first direct-to-fan ecosystem, has released its inaugural India Fandom Report, highlighting the rapid rise of fandom culture and projecting the country’s fandom economy to reach $10 billion by 2028.
The report captures the exponential growth of Indian fandoms across concerts, OTT platforms, movies, and music over the past two years, underscoring their growing influence on consumer behaviour, cultural trends, and India’s global soft power. It notes a significant shift from passive consumption to active fan participation, with merchandise, live experiences, and community engagement emerging as key drivers of the ecosystem.
Commenting on the launch, Devendra Fadnavis, Chief Minister of Maharashtra, said, “The India Fandom Report is a timely initiative that seeks to understand the evolving dynamics of fan communities and their growing influence. The creation of MYFANDOM as a platform that celebrates fan culture and connects Indian audiences with global entertainment experiences is a noteworthy step in recognising the power and potential of fandom in India”
According to the report, nearly 40% of fans seek meet-and-greet experiences with their favourite artists, while 45% value official merchandise as a key part of their fandom journey. The findings position India firmly within what the report terms the “Fandom Era,” where fans play a central role in shaping entertainment and commerce.

Speaking on the report, Jinal Ajmera, Co-Founder, MYFANDOM, said,“Today, India’s hold on the collective consciousness of the world is evident in every aspect of our media and entertainment. The exchange of art and culture, the influx of international artists, businesses and music festivals into the Indian economy made 2025 – ‘The Year of Fandom’. The India Fandom Report is our endeavour to celebrate India’s Soft Power with a record of these incredible strides made in the Indian Fandom Economy.”

Adding to this, Vivek Ajmera, Co-Founder, MYFANDOM, said, “We are on a journey to empower fans to Live Their Fandom. As India rises to unprecedented heights of economic power, our aim with the India Fandom Report is to highlight the scope of the country’s Orange Economy by offering a macro lens on the growing fan culture in India. With this, we take one step forward for India’s next billion fans.”
The report also features insights from leading industry voices including Jay Mehta of Warner Music India, Perry Farrell of Lollapalooza, Kunal Khambhati of District by Zomato, Anjula Acharia, and Poornima Sharma of Netflix India, among others. It also highlights unique fan experiences, including Indian fans engaging directly with global artists such as Chris Martin and Taylor Swift.
