Mumbai: In a key leadership move aimed at strengthening its creative operations across Asia-Pacific, WPP has appointed Kyoko Matsushita as Chief Executive Officer of WPP Creative for the APAC region.
Matsushita steps into the role from her most recent position as CEO of WPP Japan, a role she assumed in April 2022. Her elevation signals WPP’s continued focus on consolidating creative leadership and driving integrated growth strategies across high-potential markets in the region.
Sharing the update on LinkedIn, Matsushita highlighted her enthusiasm for the new mandate, stating that she looks forward to partnering with teams across APAC to “reimagine client growth.” She described the region as “a hotbed of creativity and potential,” adding that she is keen to collaborate with internal teams and partners to help shape the future of creativity.
Matsushita brings with her extensive global experience across media, technology, and marketing services. Prior to leading WPP Japan, she held senior leadership roles at Essence Global, where she played a pivotal role in scaling the business internationally. She joined Essence in 2014 as its first APAC CEO, later becoming Global CEO in 2019. During her tenure, she also served as Global Chief Client Officer, overseeing client relationships, satisfaction, and business growth initiatives.
Her earlier career spans roles at leading global companies including Sony, Electronic Arts, and Gree UK, along with agency experience at Leo Burnett.
Matsushita holds a master’s degree from the London School of Economics and Political Science, further underlining her strong academic and professional foundation.
Her appointment comes at a time when WPP is sharpening its creative and integrated capabilities across markets, with APAC seen as a critical growth engine for the network.
