Mumbai: WPP Media has appointed Ganapathy Subramanian as Senior Vice President – Client Investments, Marketplaces & Partnerships, India. Subramanian announced the development through a LinkedIn post, marking his return to the WPP network after previous leadership roles across the media and advertising industry.
Sharing the news, Subramanian reflected on the career transition that led to his new role.
“Six months ago, I wasn’t planning a career move. The regulatory changes in the real money gaming industry forced many of us to rethink. What initially felt like an uncertain phase turned out to be one of the most defining periods of my professional journey. It reminded me that while industries may change, the capabilities you develop, the people you learn from, and the relationships you nurture stay with you,” he wrote.
Announcing his return to WPP Media, Subramanian described the move as a homecoming.
“Returning to WPP Media, where I had built an important part of my early career, felt less like joining a new company and more like coming home. I’m excited to share that I’ve stepped in as Senior Vice President – Client Investments, Marketplaces & Partnerships, India at WPP Media,” he added.
Subramanian brings extensive experience across media strategy, client leadership, investments and business development, spanning more than two decades in the advertising and media ecosystem.
Before joining Head Digital Works, he served as Business Director – APAC at OMD, where he led regional business responsibilities. Earlier, he spent more than four years with GroupM’s Motivator as Client Lead, serving as a core member of the agency’s South leadership team. In that role, he oversaw the emerging brands portfolio in Bengaluru while also leading new business development across South India.
His earlier career includes roles at Havas Media, Accenture, Mindshare, and OMD International, giving him experience across media planning, buying, integrated client solutions and strategic partnerships.
In his new role at WPP Media, Subramanian is expected to lead client investments while strengthening marketplace relationships and strategic partnerships across India, as the company continues to evolve its media investment and client solutions capabilities.
