Apple is facing fresh criticism today after it was forced to abort the roll-out of its latest iOS8 software following reports that the buggy software was corrupting users phones.
Reports have been circulating that iPhone 6 who had downloaded the software update were subsequently unable to make calls from their devices or activate the built-in Touch ID fingerprint scanner.
Following these reports Apple immediately cancelled the release and apologised to anyone affected.
In a statement Apple said: “We have a workaround for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus users who lost cellular service and Touch ID functionality today after updating to iOS 8.0.1. Affected users can reinstall iOS 8 through iTunes, for more information visit http://support.apple.com/kb/HT6487.
“We apologise for the great inconvenience experienced by users, and are working around the clock to prepare iOS 8.0.2 with a fix for the issue, and will release it as soon as it is ready in the next few days.”
To remedy the glitch iPhone 6 owners must manually revert to iOS8 using the latest version of iTunes.
Apple has recently come under fire for the so-called ‘Bendgate’ afetr iPhone6 and 6 Plus users reported that their devices were buckling under pressure when placed in their trouser pockets.
