AI-powered tools are transforming how creators produce content: Classplus’ Creator Report 2024
Share Share ShareShare

MUMBAI: AI-powered tools are transforming how creators produce content. AI-driven content creation and the growing participation of mainstream celebrities are redefining the creator ecosystem. The creator economy contributes 2.5% to GDP and employs 8% of the workforce, solidifying its role as a key economic driver. With digital influencers earning up to ₹10 lakhs per brand video and reaching audiences of up to 70 million, the market’s earning potential is immense. Currently valued at $4.58 billion, the sector is projected to grow 10x by 2030. Additionally, the rise of OTT platforms has amplified regional content creators from small towns, who use native languages to build stronger, personal connections with their audiences.

Classplus’ Creator Report 2024 has been published. In today’s rapidly evolving content creation landscape, where individuals can achieve success without traditional qualifications, India’s creator economy is growing at an unprecedented rate. As a platform in content monetization, Classplus aims to empower creators to thrive. The Creator Trends Report, drawing insights from over 100,000 creators on Classplus, highlights the key trends defining 2024 and shaping the future of the industry.

Here are a few key takeaways from the report:

The Rise of AI in Content Creation
AI-powered tools are transforming how creators produce content, with Indian virtual influencers like Kyra and Naina exemplifying the success of human-AI collaboration.

Tools like AI Convert and AI-powered Leads are streamlining operations for many Creatorpreneurs, with AI Convert’s revenue growing by 235% from the previous year, highlighting the rapid adoption of AI in content creation.
Over 92% of content creators are leveraging the use of AI which increases their efficiency by 2x.

Government Initiatives and Celebrity Spotlight: Acknowledging the transformative power of the creator economy, the government has launched programs such as the Digital India Initiative, India Aspiration Fund, and the Media and Entertainment Council, among others.

In 2024, India’s digital creators were spotlighted for the first time at the inaugural National Creator Awards, hosted by PM Narendra Modi, celebrating over 1.5 lakh nominations and 10 lakh votes.

From humble beginnings to social media icons, creators like Nancy Tyagi and Revant Himatsingka (Foodpharmer) exemplify the transformative power of impactful content, turning passion into influence and redefining success in the digital age. Further, their authenticity earned them spots in Forbes India top 15 of 100 digital stars.

The Monetisation Revolution: Content creators are diversifying their revenue streams beyond traditional brand sponsorships. Digital products like courses, e-books and templates become key in this journey. Classplus in 2024 saw a surge of 30,000+ new courses, a 46% uptick since last year. 2024 saw the rise of Creatorpreneurs building sustainable businesses like Raja Rani Coaching, Competishun and Oll.co featured on ‘Shark Tank’.

Celebrities enter the Ed-Tech arena – stars like Shilpa Shetty and Nawazuddin Siddiqui are leveraging their expertise to deliver curated learning experiences, marking a new intersection of fame and education.

Building on last year’s shift from entertainment to infotainment, over 62% people in 2024 preferred creators who produced educational content over those focused on entertainment.

Top Niches to watch: Astrology, DIY, and Podcasts witnessed an impressive surge of over 100%, reflecting their exponential growth and rising popularity.

Classplus saw a 139% increase in the number of individuals expressing interest in learning Astrology on its platform. While the DIY segment saw a massive 123% rise in new learners.

80% of audiences watching these segments come from Tier 2+ cities.

Regional Content Surge in India: The rise of OTT platforms has sparked a wave of regional content creators from small towns and villages, using native languages to engage audiences more personally. Creators like SCANCARZ are dubbing their courses to reach students nationwide, tapping into this growing trend.

The Creator Trends Report by Classplus offers insights, much like the annual reports from platforms such as YouTube and Instagram, shedding light on industry-defining shifts. With AI and emerging monetisation strategies at the forefront, the creator economy’s future looks brighter than ever. On Classplus alone, a new course was launched every 15 minutes this year, underscoring the dynamic growth of the creator ecosystem.
