Mumbai: In a significant step toward strengthening India’s leadership in ethical and innovative Artificial Intelligence, leading industry figures have announced the formation of the Artificial Intelligence Association of India (AIAI) — the country’s first dedicated industry body focused on advancing responsible AI adoption. The Governing Board, comprising top corporates and sector leaders, will be announced shortly.
AIAI aims to function at the intersection of innovation, policy, and cultural preservation, bringing together voices from diverse sectors including design, advertising, film, gaming, music, publishing, emerging tech, and other domains touched by creative and applied AI.
“AI is no longer the future—it is the now. And India cannot afford to be a passive consumer in this revolution,” said Dr. Sandeep Goyal, National Convenor of AIAI. “With AIAI, we are building the ethical and institutional guardrails that ensure India’s creative industries not only thrive with AI, but do so on their own terms.”
India’s Creative Ecosystem, Rewired for the AI Era
AIAI will be governed by a multidisciplinary board comprising technologists, creators, policy advisors, legal experts, and educators. The association will function as a policy think tank, innovation incubator, and industry forum, supporting the advancement of AI while preserving India’s cultural identity and safeguarding creative talent.
Key Objectives of AIAI include:
- Policy & Advocacy: Representing creative industries in AI-regulatory discussions with MeitY, DPIIT, and NITI Aayog.
- Ethical Standards: Developing certification frameworks for ethical AI in film, advertising, music, and design.
- Skilling & Inclusion: Rolling out training initiatives to upskill over 10,000 creative professionals in AI by 2026.
- R&D and Innovation: Incubating India-first AI tools for content generation, translation, personalization, and storytelling.
Creative IP Protection: Advocating for artist attribution, combating deepfakes, and evolving copyright standards for AI-driven content.
Bridging the Trust Gap Between Innovation and Regulation
With India’s AI ecosystem experiencing rapid growth and creative sectors undergoing unprecedented disruption, AIAI aims to bridge the trust and regulatory gaps. The body will serve as a unified platform for creators, enterprises, technologists, and policymakers—driving transparency, accountability, and fair AI practices.
Through real-time policy advisories, dynamic ethical sandboxes, and a national AI incident registry, AIAI intends to provide agile, proactive guidance at the pace of technological change.
“Creative AI isn’t just a technology story. It’s a story about what kind of country we want to be—how we preserve language, culture, livelihoods, and imagination in a time of machines,” Dr. Goyal added. “This is India’s moment to lead—not follow. And AIAI will make sure we do.”
Dr. Sandeep Goyal is the Chairman of Rediffusion and a well-recognized leader in India’s advertising and technology landscape. With a career spanning over three decades, he is celebrated for integrating creativity, data, and emerging technologies. As the founder of India’s largest GenAI content studio, Aesthetic Intelligence Lab, Dr. Goyal has played a pivotal role in shaping AI-driven brand storytelling in India.
AIAI is India’s first dedicated industry association committed to promoting ethical, inclusive, and innovative AI adoption across the country. With a national mandate, AIAI aims to serve as the authoritative representative voice of India’s emerging AI economy.
