Mumbai: NDTV has named Akhil Gupta as its new Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Gupta announced his new role through a post on LinkedIn, marking a significant leadership addition to the Adani Group-owned media network.
Announcing the development on his LinkedIn handle, Akhil shared, “I am happy to share that I am starting a new position as Chief Financial Officer at NDTV!
Dreams do not just inspire they demand action. Today, I am honoured to share that I have been appointed Chief Financial Officer of NDTV, part of the Adani Group.
This role represents one of the most significant milestones of my career not just for the responsibility it carries, but for the trust the Adani leadership has placed in me to lead the finance function of an institution that shapes public discourse and national conversation.”
With over 19 years of experience across organisations such as PVR, Airtel, Infratel, Zydus and Adani, Gupta highlighted the core principles that have guided his professional journey.
He noted, “Five principles have anchored my journey and continue to guide me:
1. Resilience is not optional – it is foundational
Best leaders are not those who avoid adversity, but those who emerge from it with clarity and conviction.
2. Integrity is non negotiable
Credibility is the most valuable currency a finance leader must build and never compromise.
3. Ownership transforms responsibility into impact
moment you lead as if the business were your own, your decisions carry a different weight and so do your results.
4. Business Perspective leads numbers to judgment
Financial acumen matters, but the ability to interpret data within strategic context must be the top priority of finance leader.
5. Continuous Learning keeps you relevant
Complacency is the enemy of growth. Continuous learning is not a luxury, it is a mandate.”
He further added, “Last but not least, I extend my sincere gratitude to Mr. Rahul Kanwal, CEO and Editor-in-Chief of NDTV, for granting me the invaluable opportunity to work alongside him.”
Prior to joining NDTV, Gupta was associated with Adani Enterprises Limited as Business Unit Finance Controller for over three years. His career also includes stints at Zydus Cadila Healthcare Limited, Bharti Airtel Limited and PVR Limited, where he held key finance and leadership roles across complex business environments.
