Mumbai: Arvind Fashions Limited, part of the Lalbhai Group, has appointed Amitabh Suri as Chief Executive Officer of Flying Machine, in addition to his current role as CEO of U.S. Polo Assn..
The leadership transition follows the exit of Nidhi Raj, who had been heading Flying Machine since November 2021 and stepped down in February 2025.
Suri’s expanded responsibility comes at a critical juncture for Flying Machine, India’s first homegrown denim label and a long-standing youth brand. Over the years, the brand has maintained its relevance through an edgy identity and constant experimentation across product design, innovation and consumer engagement—aligning closely with the shifting tastes of millennial and Gen Z shoppers.
With over 25 years of experience in the apparel and lifestyle sector, Suri is widely recognised for his ability to scale brands, strengthen operations and drive omni-channel growth. His leadership credentials span retail, supply chain optimisation, brand transformation and full P&L management.
Before joining Arvind Fashions, Suri spent nearly 18 years at Indian Terrain, where he was part of the executive leadership team and played a pivotal role in building the brand from a startup into a publicly listed company. During his tenure, Indian Terrain evolved into a premium sportswear-led lifestyle brand with revenues of ₹415 crore, transitioning from a wholesale-led model to a modern retail business.
He later served as CEO of Iconic at the Landmark Group in Dubai, overseeing operations across 38 stores in the UAE, Kuwait, Qatar and Saudi Arabia. At Iconic, Suri led a brand repositioning, strengthened supply chains, introduced new vendor partnerships and accelerated the company’s omni-channel expansion, with annual revenues of AED 300 million.
Prior to his current role, Suri was President – Exclusive Brands & Private Labels at Shoppers Stop, managing a portfolio of in-house and international labels with a combined turnover of ₹800 crore. His tenure saw the launch of multiple exclusive brands, including Jones New York (women’s western wear), French Connection UK (men’s wear), Back to Earth (sustainable women’s Indian wear) and Glam X Disha Patani.
As CEO of U.S. Polo Assn., India’s largest casualwear brand with revenues exceeding ₹1,800 crore, Suri has overseen expansion across menswear, womenswear, kidswear, footwear and innerwear. With Flying Machine now added to his portfolio, Arvind Fashions is signalling a clear intent to consolidate leadership across its core brands and drive sharper execution through seasoned, unified stewardship.
