Mumbai: Big FM has appointed seasoned media executive Ashit Kukian as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective December 1, 2025. The appointment marks his return to a leadership role in the radio and audio entertainment sector after stepping down as CEO of Music Broadcast Limited (Radio City) earlier this year, a position he held from September 2018 to August 2025.
Kukian brings over 30 years of experience across radio, television, print and outdoor media, with a track record of driving growth and steering organisations through changing market environments. At Radio City, he led the network through an intensely competitive audio landscape, championing innovation, widening audience engagement and strengthening the brand’s overall market position during his seven-year tenure.
Before returning to Radio City as CEO in 2018, Kukian held several senior roles across major media groups. He served as COO-NewsX and CRO-Non News at ITV Network between 2017 and 2018, overseeing channel operations and revenue strategy. Prior to that, he was President–Revenue at Times Network from 2015 to 2017, responsible for accelerating monetisation across multiple platforms.
Kukian’s earlier decade-long stint at Radio City (2005–2015) as President and Chief Operating Officer was instrumental in shaping the network’s programming direction, operational efficiencies and market expansion. His media career began at Bennett Coleman & Co. Ltd. (Times Group), where he spent nearly 13 years as Regional Head, building sales structures, strengthening regional operations and developing multimedia capabilities. He has also contributed to digital-led audio initiatives such as RadioCity.in, an early industry effort to fuse radio with internet-first content.
Well-regarded for his sharp business acumen and collaborative leadership style, Kukian has consistently focused on nurturing high-performing teams, integrating creativity with commercial outcomes, and steering organisations toward sustained growth.
His move to Big FM is expected to bring renewed strategic direction to the network as the radio and digital audio ecosystem continues to evolve rapidly.
