Mumbai: Asianet Television Awards 2026 celebrated excellence in Malayalam television with a special focus on women empowerment this year. The grand event was organised around the theme “She is the Colour”, highlighting the strength, resilience and achievements of women who continue to inspire society.
The ceremony honoured several distinguished women personalities for their contributions across arts and culture. Among those recognised was legendary playback singer Vimala Varma, regarded as the first Malayalam playback singer. The awards also paid tribute to Devaki Amma and Vimala Menon, both recipients of the Padma Shri, acknowledging their outstanding contributions.
The event also felicitated leading personalities from the entertainment industry including Shweta Menon, President of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists, and National Award-winning actress Surabhi Lakshmi.
The star-studded evening saw the presence of prominent actors from the Malayalam film and television industry such as Jayasurya, Vijay Babu, Asha Sarath, Lena, Esther Anil, Anumol, Akhila Bhargavan, Sarayu Mohan, Prajod Kalabhavan, Gayathri Suresh, Sabumon Abdusamad, Swasika, Tini Tom, Sijoy Varghese, Kailash, Veena Nandakumar, Sabareesh Varma, Ansiba Hassan, and Dinesh Prabhakar among others.
The event was also attended by Kishan Kumar, Executive Vice President – Malayalam at JioStar.
The awards recognised outstanding achievements across multiple categories in Malayalam television, honouring the talent and dedication of artists and technicians who contribute to the industry’s continued growth.
Adding to the grandeur of the evening were entertainment segments featuring dance performances, stunt acts and comedy skits by popular television and film stars, making the event a vibrant celebration of the industry.
The awards ceremony will be telecast on Asianet on March 14 and 15 from 7 PM onwards, bringing the star-studded celebration to audiences across Kerala and beyond.
