Bengaluru: Ather Energy Limited has announced the appointment of Anjani Kumar as its new Chief Digital & Information Officer (CDIO). In this strategic role, Kumar will spearhead Ather’s digital and information initiatives across product development, manufacturing, and customer experience, reinforcing the company’s technology-first approach.
Anjani Kumar brings over 24 years of experience in digital transformation and IT leadership, having held senior positions at global firms including IBM, Nissan, Cognizant, Strides Pharma, and Tata AIG. His expertise spans industries such as automotive, BFSI, logistics, pharmaceuticals, and technology.
Commenting on the appointment, Swapnil Jain, Executive Director and CTO, Ather Energy, said, “Ather has been digital-first and data-driven from day one, with a strong focus on systems from products to manufacturing to sales. As we grow rapidly as an organisation, with multiple products, new business models, and deeper software integration, the complexity naturally increases. As CDIO, Kumar will oversee teams across WebTech, IT & Security, MES, Business Intelligence, and Digital Engineering. He is tasked with unifying Ather’s digital architecture to ensure greater agility, security, and scalability as the company continues to expand.

Anjani holds a Post Graduate degree in Marketing & Management from Kelley School of Business, Indiana University, and a B.E. in Mechanical Engineering from NIT Rourkela. He has earned numerous accolades, including ‘Digital Leader of the Year’ and ‘India’s Top CIO’, and is a respected voice in the technology community.
This appointment comes as Ather Energy continues to scale its operations. With over 3,600 fast chargers across India and abroad and a robust product portfolio that includes the Ather 450 and Ather Rizta lines, the company is poised to deepen its footprint in the EV sector.
