Kolkata: Bangla ZEE5 has released the trailer of its upcoming original series Ronkini Bhavan, a psychological thriller rooted in the atmospheric suburban-rural landscape of 1990s Bengal. Steeped in superstition, ritualistic fear and generational secrets, the series delves into the unsettling belief system of a family bound by devotion to Ronkini Devi—an enigmatic local goddess whose influence is feared yet rarely spoken about.
Directed by Abhrajit Sen, marking his second foray into the web-series format, Ronkini Bhavan features a compelling ensemble cast led by Shyamoupti Mudly as Juthika and Gourab Roy Chowdhury as Adityanath, both making their OTT debuts. The narrative follows a young bride who enters a reclusive household where death is familiar and faith is intertwined with dread, forcing her to confront a legacy that blurs the lines between belief and darkness. Actress Shruti Das adds a distinctive creative dimension to the project as Creative Producer.
The series also stars Bidipta Chakraborty as Padmavati, Avery Singha Roy as Ballari, Siddharta Ghosh as Shibnath, Aniruddha Gupta as Rudranath and Ishani Sengupta as Kamalini. Actor Suhotra Mukhopadhyay appears in a special cameo as Manas Mahato, further deepening the mystery surrounding the narrative.

Commenting on the launch, Rusa Banerjee, Business Head, ZEE5 Bangla, said, “Bangla ZEE5 tirelessly works towards promoting the local content and Ronkini Bhavan adds a compelling chapter to that legacy. It is a story steeped in the soil and spirit of Bengal, with every character and custom feeling true to our home-grown heritage. This is exactly the kind of Bengali storytelling we champion at Bangla ZEE5, a culturally rooted drama that reflects our people’s lives and emotions.”
Director Abhrajit Sen added, “Ronkini Bhavan explores a terror born not out of the supernatural, but of the human mind, tradition and the long shadow of inherited guilt. Within the secluded world of the Lahiri family, the series uncovers how rituals and piety have concealed a mysterious history. It serves as a stark reminder that the darkest evils often hide beneath the guise of devotion.”
With its richly detailed setting, strong performances and a narrative inspired by the shadowy small-town milieu of 1990s Bengal, Ronkini Bhavan is poised to be one of the most atmospheric psychological thrillers on Bangla ZEE5. The newly released trailer sets the tone for a series that blends tension, emotion and cultural intrigue in equal measure.
