Mumbai: Banijay Asia is set to produce the high-octane reality competition format The Fifty for JioHotstar and Colors TV, premiering on February 1, 2026. Originally created by French unscripted label BProd, this latest commission marks the format’s fifth international adaptation.
Set in a grand Mahal, The Fifty features 50 reality TV stars navigating challenges from a mysterious Game Master, hidden behind a Lion mask. Contestants must form alliances, test friendships, and compete to grow a shared jackpot, with eliminations determined by the players themselves. In a final twist, the life-changing cash prize is awarded not to the winner, but to one of their registered followers, chosen via the show’s dedicated app.

Deepak Dhar, Founder & Group CEO, Banijay Asia & Endemol Shine India, said, “With scale, gameplay and a celebrity cast, this show combines drama and entertainment at every turn. Hugely unique, universal and adaptable, ‘The Fifty’ is a natural fit for the Indian market and will keep both the audience and the players invested from start to finish. It’s sure to deliver a reality experience our audiences have never seen.”

Lucas Green, Chief Content Officer, Operations, Banijay Entertainment, added, “Since launching in France in 2022, ‘The Fifty’ has proven its global strength, landing in three territories and delivering consistently strong performances across markets and platforms. Its scale, intensity and ability to engage audiences makes India a natural next step in the format’s international evolution.”
Based on BProd’s hit Les Cinquante, The Fifty has achieved remarkable success internationally. In France, the series for M6 continues to grow in popularity, with Season 4 marking its highest-ever launch among commercial and youth audiences. The format has also found success abroad: a Polish adaptation premiered on Amazon Prime Video in 2025, Germany debuted the show at #1 on Prime Video, and Telemundo renewed it for a second run after it became the network’s most-watched program within the US Hispanic market.
