Cumulative watch time crosses 7.8 crore minutes on opening day, marking 1.74x reach over previous edition

Bigg Boss Tamil 9 ignites festive fever with record viewership on JioHotstar

Mumbai: Bigg Boss Tamil Season 9 opened to record-breaking viewership on JioHotstar, reaffirming its position as one of Tamil Nadu’s most-loved entertainment franchises. Streaming exclusively on the platform, the launch day episode registered 7.8 crore minutes of cumulative watch time and achieved 1.74x higher reach compared to the previous edition.

Hosted by Vijay Sethupathi, returning for his second consecutive year, the new season has kicked off on a strong note, lighting up the festive October lineup for JioHotstar.

This year, the platform has deepened fan engagement through interactive and immersive features, including a 24×7 live chat feed and a dedicated Fanzone that keeps viewers connected to every twist, turn, and emotional moment in real time. In a first for Tamil audiences, JioHotstar has also introduced ‘Meme the Moment,’ a feature that lets fans instantly create and share memes from standout show moments — turning Bigg Boss into a participatory cultural experience.

Connected TV accounted for nearly 47% of the opening watch time, highlighting Tamil viewers’ growing preference for large-screen, family viewing experiences.
