Mumbai: Birla Studios has partnered with Vodafone Idea Limited (Vi) to launch ‘Reel Se Real Star’, a first-of-its-kind mobile-first acting talent discovery platform aimed at democratising access to India’s entertainment industry.
Designed to eliminate traditional barriers such as geography, access, and industry connections, the initiative enables aspiring actors across the country to participate through a fully digital journey. By allowing users to upload auditions directly via app and web platforms, the programme seeks to open up opportunities to anyone with a smartphone.
Built on the idea that talent can emerge from anywhere, ‘Reel Se Real Star’ aims to create a diverse and inclusive talent pipeline, connecting untapped potential from across India to mainstream entertainment.

Reflecting on the vision behind the platform, Ananya Birla, Founder and Chairperson of Birla Studios, noted, “Talent does not always get the opportunity it deserves— and that gap has kept far too many aspirants out of the spotlight. Leveraging Vodafone Idea’s digital reach of over 200 million users alongside Birla Studios’ creative expertise, the platform is positioned to scale talent discovery nationwide, spanning both urban and rural markets.

At its core, the initiative combines large-scale audience participation with expert mentorship, with participants being evaluated by established directors and creative professionals to ensure credibility and craft excellence.
Winners of the programme will receive a breakthrough opportunity to feature in a film alongside an established director, offering a direct pathway into the industry.
The platform is expected to go live for participation on the Vi app in the coming months, with early registrations currently open on Birla Studios’ and Vi’s websites.
With this collaboration, Birla Studios and Vodafone Idea aim to redefine talent discovery in India, using digital infrastructure to unlock access, scale participation, and build a more inclusive entertainment ecosystem.
