Cricketer Shubman Gill does his first eyewear brand association through Oakley

MUMBAI: Oakley has announced that Indian cricketer Shubman Gill as its next brand ambassador and face of the ‘Artifacts from the future’ campaign in India.

Gill said, “I’m very excited to join Oakley, a brand that stands for performance, progression and passion – values that resonate strongly with mine. Oakley has been an integral part of my cricketing journey every time I took to the field. The innovative lens and frames technologies in every Oakley help enhance performance, and I love how unapologetically stylish they are!”

The company explains that Gill’s style aligns with its spirit. Together, they fuse sport and culture, inspiring a new generation to embrace their true selves and push beyond limits.

Sahil Jandial, Senior Brand Business Manager Oakley, said, “Oakley is firmly rooted in sports, and is one with the culture and community of athletes pushing the boundaries of performance. Shubman, with his relentless pursuit for perfection and progression, is a great embodiment of the Oakley spirit. I am confident this partnership will inspire millions to stay the course till they become the best version of themselves…. And onwards from there!”

Gill is joining a roster of athletes in the Oakley-verse, alongside stars like Kylian Mbappe, Damian Lillard, Patrick Mahomes II: incredible forces in culture and sport, who are breaking new ground on their own terms.

The aim is to mark a progression from the past and write a new chapter towards the future.

Oakley says that it is writing a new chapter. It is introducing Artifacts From The Future—a new era of inventions designed for tomorrow, delivered today and born from an influence that looks to transcend the game, echoes through culture, and accelerates what’s next.

From Sub Zero to Eye Jacket, From Mars to Medusa, Oakley’s says that its designs have reshaped the world—from the winner’s podium to the runway, to the main stage, and beyond. Artifacts from the Future are designed for 2075 and delivered to 2025, all within the signature language that Oakley says has defined it for five decades.

Plantaris is a high-wrap piece of future-facing art created to become an artifact in years to come. The collection is rounded out with high-wrap eyewear, including Lateralis, a heritage-inspired, future-ready silhouette, and Masseter, a new-school minimalist design that takes inspiration from ’90s and early ’00s Oakley inventions.
