Disney+ Hotstar scripts Kapil Dev hostage drama to reiterate ‘Free main dekhte jao’ message

Featuring the former Indian cricket captain, the campaign for the ICC Men’s World Cup has been conceptualised by Manja Brand Works and directed by Nitesh Tiwari.

The ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup is almost here. And the captain who led India to its very first World Cup victory is being held hostage. What do the captors want? Assurance there will be no power cuts during the matches so they can enjoy the game without hindrances.

The villagers who hold Dev captive are assured that they can watch the live telecast of all the matches, not just the first few minutes, free on the Disney+ Hotstar app. The app also has a data-saving mode, addressing concerns about data cost.

It may be recalled that Dev’s famous innings of 175 not out during the 1983 World Cup could not be recorded or telecast.

The campaign has been conceptualised by Manja Brand Works  and directed by Nitesh Tiwari.

ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 will be live from October 5 on Disney+ Hotstar and on the Star Sports Network.
