Bengaluru: DriveU, a urban mobility solutions provider, has introduced a creative twist to Coimbatore’s everyday parking woes, turning routine No Parking signs into moments of engagement and amusement. The initiative combines local Tamil humour with urban problem-solving, aiming to make residents pause, smile, and think before parking in restricted areas.
Most of us have experienced the routine. Circling a block endlessly, hoping for a miracle parking spot, only to be met with a dull, authoritative No Parking sign. But what if a No Parking sign did more than restrict? What if it made you pause, smile, and think?
Across parts of Coimbatore, new boards now feature playful messages such as:
- “Inna kaathu nikka mattum dha anumadhi, carukku illa.” (Wind is allowed to park here, not your car)
- “Makkal sandai. Inga parking illai.” (It’s People fighting place, so parking is not allowed here)
- “Sari yenakku vena, unakku vena. 2 second niruthikanga.” (Not for me and not for you, let’s park your vehicle for 2 sec!)
The approach has already sparked smiles and reflection. As one Coimbatore resident noted, “I usually ignore No Parking signs. This one made me laugh. I actually stood there for a second before driving away.”
The campaign reinforces DriveU’s commitment to addressing urban mobility challenges with creative, human-centred solutions. Each sign was strategically placed in high-traffic areas with common parking conflicts, using humour to communicate without aggression.
True to its mission of addressing real-world urban problems with creativity, DriveU designed this initiative to connect with people in a way that feels local, relatable, and human.
By turning everyday rules into playful, memorable interactions, DriveU demonstrates that effective communication can be both impactful and entertaining—making residents stop, smile, and think, one No Parking sign at a time.
