Mumbai: NDTV 24×7 has appointed Vedika Sud as Consulting Editor, marking the addition of a seasoned newsroom voice with nearly two decades of frontline reporting across South Asia.
In 2021, when the devastating COVID-19 Delta wave struck India, Vedika was on the frontline — reporting from overcrowded wards, tracing the desperate search for lifesaving supplies, and telling the stories of those most affected. That work reflected the qualities that have defined her 19-year career: clarity, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to factual, uncompromising reporting.
Most recently, as India Bureau Lead for CNN International, Vedika was the face of the channel across India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal, and Bhutan — reporting on the ground, collaborating with CNN’s global desks, and shaping South Asia’s biggest stories for a worldwide audience. Her coverage spanned the India–Pakistan conflict after the Kashmir terror attack, the G20 Summit 2023, the India–Myanmar refugee crisis, the farmers’ protests, and an investigation into Delhi’s landfills that exposed serious environmental risks.
Earlier, Vedika held senior editorial and anchoring roles at India Today Group, NewsX, and Times Now, building experience across prime bulletins, political reporting, and investigative features.
Her work has been recognised internationally, with an Honourable Mention at the Society of Publishers in Asia (SOPA) Awards 2024 for reporting on women’s issues, and as a finalist at the South Asian Journalists Association (SAJA) Awards 2021 in the Essay and Opinion category.
Rahul Kanwal, CEO and Editor-in-Chief, NDTV, said, “Vedika is not just a witness to events – she is an interpreter of their meaning. Her intelligence, field experience, and global perspective will strengthen NDTV’s mission to bring depth, accuracy, and insight to every story.”
Reflecting on her new role, Vedika Sud said, “The most powerful stories don’t simply tell you what happened – they help you understand why it matters and who it matters to. NDTV’s legacy has been built on that kind of storytelling, and I am honoured to be part of it. In an age of endless headlines, our responsibility is to cut through the noise, connect the dots, and offer clarity and context that truly inform the public.”
As Consulting Editor, NDTV 24×7, Vedika joins a newsroom shaping the narrative of a changing India — committed to journalism that is rigorous in its pursuit of facts, rich in context, and deeply connected to the people it serves.
