FIFA World Cup 2018 on Sony Sports Channels and SonyLIV garners Over 47 million views in first 48 hrs

With over 250 million viewers, FIFA World Cup 2018 becomes the most viewed international football match ever in India

Mumbai: The FIFA World Cup is known as the biggest show and this has been proven with its record-breaking viewership of the tournament in India. The most happening event telecasted on Sony Sports Channels and SonyLiv has hit over 47 million views in first 48 hrs.

The first four matches from the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia, telecasted on SONY TEN 2, SONY TEN 3 and SONY ESPN channels which were also livestreamed on SonyLIV app & website, broke records in viewership across football properties in India in the first two days of the opening week.

Over 47 million viewers were engaged in to SONY TEN 2, SONY TEN 3 and SONY ESPN channels as well as SonyLIV to watch the first four matches.2018 FIFA World Cup Russia delivers a grand opening with over 47 million viewers in the first 48 hours.

* The cumulative reach the opening of 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia has recorded as 47.3 million viewers in its first 48 hours however over 41 million viewers has  followed the World Cup on TV and over 6 million viewers live on SonyLIV.

**The BARC data reports that the opening match between Russia and Saudi Arabia has been watched by 19.3 million viewers , with Kerala, West Bengal, North East and Maharashtra being the top viewership markets and interestingly women comprise of 45% of its viewership.The tournament witnessed a high engagement with an average TSV of 39 minutes

The viewership of 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia has surpassed all other football properties, both domestic and international in India. Sony Pictures Networks India (SPN) vigorous promotion to ensure enhanced viewing experience has paved the way to this success.
