Bengaluru: As India gears up for its most-awaited shopping festival, The Big Billion Days (TBBD), Flipkart, India’s homegrown e-commerce marketplace, has announced its festive readiness strategy powered by an expanded workforce, robust infrastructure, and inclusive hiring. The company has created over 2.2 lakh seasonal job opportunities across supply chain, logistics, and last-mile delivery roles, ensuring agility and precision to manage the high festive demand.
Key highlights of Flipkart’s festive hiring include a 10% rise in female recruitment, increased hiring of persons with disabilities (PwD), and integration of LGBTQIA+ associates across operations. Notably, 15% of new recruits are first-time workforce entrants, stepping into roles such as pickers, packers, sorters, and delivery executives.
To strengthen last-mile reach, Flipkart is expanding its logistics network with 650 new festive-only delivery hubs in cities such as Siliguri, Kundli, and Jakhar, as well as across Tier 2 and 3 cities. The company’s tech-enabled operations leverage AI-powered demand planning, automation for sortation accuracy, and predictive inventory tools to ensure seamless delivery while building a future-ready supply chain.
The hiring initiative reflects Flipkart’s strong focus on inclusivity and social impact. Through partnerships with social sector organizations, the company is actively training and onboarding underrepresented communities into logistics roles. Its Supply Chain Operations Academy (SCOA) has already trained thousands of candidates and aims to upskill 10,000 more associates by the end of 2025. Additionally, over 6,000 students pursuing graduation have been trained in supply chain operations through blended classroom and digital sessions.
Seema Nair, CHRO at Flipkart, said, “At Flipkart, The Big Billion Days is a celebration of scale, speed, and shared progress. This year, we have strengthened our capabilities ahead of the festive season, focusing on building an inclusive workforce, expanding our supply chain people network, and creating more inclusive job opportunities in the ecosystem, backed by technology and sustainable practices. Our focus on festive readiness is on creating lasting value for the communities and partners who power our network and daily deliveries.”
Sharing her experience, Pragya Mishra, a female warehouse supervisor at Saidham FC, added, “The festive season is our busiest time, with lakhs of orders, tight timelines, and every second counts. I started as a Team Lead 1 year ago. I lead a team of 15 during the festive peak, ensuring every package moves on time.”
