New Delhi: Government of India has decided to ban on 59 Chinese apps, including TikTok. Those apps with privacy issues and incident of diverting data are part of the banned list of apps.
The list of banned apps also includes other popular and commonly used apps such as UC Browser, Shareit, Cam Scanner, UC News etc…

Ban on Chinese apps creates a whole a lot of opportunity for desi versions of the popular Chinese apps.
It may be noted that Chinese App Tiktok has suddenly started losing its base in India after Indian App Chingari made inroads into the digital entertainment world. Chingari app has witnessed 2.5 million downloads.
Welcoming the ban of 59 Chinese apps in India, Berges Malu, Director- Public Policy, ShareChat, an Indian regional social media platform said, “This is a welcome move from the government against platforms that have had serious privacy, cybersecurity and national security risks. We expect the government to continue their support for the Indian startup ecosystem”
Nikhil Gandhi, Head of TikTok, India & TikTok “An Update The Government of India has issued an interim order for the blocking of 59 apps, including TikTok and we are in the process of complying with it. We have been invited to meet with concerned government stakeholders for an opportunity to respond and submit clarifications. TikTok continues to comply with all data privacy and security requirements under Indian law and has not shared any information of our users in India with any foreign government, including the Chinese Government. Further if we are requested to in the future we would not do so. We place the highest importance on user privacy and integrity. TikTok has democratized the internet by making it available in 14 Indian languages, with hundreds of millions of users, artists, story-tellers, educators and performers depending on it for their livelihood, many of whom are first time internet users”
