Mumbai: In a significant leadership move in India’s media and distribution landscape, Gurjeev Singh Kapoor has been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of Hathway Cable and Datacom, according to media reports.
Kapoor joins Hathway after a long and impactful stint at Disney Star, where he most recently served as Head of Distribution and International. During his tenure, he played a pivotal role in strengthening the network’s domestic and global distribution footprint, driving strategic partnerships, and scaling reach across platforms in an increasingly competitive media ecosystem.
With nearly 17 years at Disney Star, Kapoor was closely associated with the company’s evolution into one of India’s most dominant broadcast networks. His leadership spanned critical functions in affiliate sales, carriage negotiations, and international expansion—areas that have become central to the business dynamics of television and digital content distribution.
Prior to his time at Disney Star, Kapoor spent close to six years at Sony Pictures Networks India, where he also headed distribution. His experience across leading broadcast networks has given him deep expertise in managing large-scale distribution operations and navigating complex stakeholder ecosystems.
With over three decades of industry experience, Kapoor brings a strong track record in building and scaling media distribution and partnership-led growth ventures across India and international markets. His appointment comes at a time when cable and broadband players like Hathway are navigating structural shifts driven by OTT adoption, digitisation, and evolving consumer consumption patterns.
