Women empowerment has been a boon for many and helped them grow exceedingly among various sectors. Many have outshined and been an inspiration for others. Our talented actresses from the film fraternity have proved that they can add multiple feathers to their caps. Some well-known faces are unstoppable and have chosen to make it big. They have turned out to be successful entrepreneurs balancing their responsibilities accurately. Their journey has been a bit easier because their credibility in the market has already been established, as a result, some of their brands have gained huge fame. They have become role models for young girls to look up to and prove themselves, out in the real world.

Let’s have a glance at some fabulous women entrepreneurs from Indian Cinema.

Deepika Padukone

Deepika launched her very own clothing brand, “All About You.” She also runs her foundation, “Live, Love, Laugh” to support and normalise mental health. Other than that, she runs her own family office, KA Enterprise, which has been an active investor in a plethora of start-ups such as Epigamia – a yoghurt brand, Purplle- a beauty products brand etc. She also owns a production house called “Ka” productions.

Priyanka Chopra Jonas

Priyanka is a global superstar and also a singer. She has recently launched her hair care line, “Anomaly,” making it affordable for everyone. Her haircare brand took off to a colourful start. Her production house, “Purple Pebble Pictures,” has been a part of some beautiful stories. Other than having multiple successful businesses, she has also launched her autobiography, “Unfinished.” She officially launched her New York restaurant “Sona” on March 26, 2021, after 3 years of planning.

Anushka Sharma

Anushka is a remarkable actress who made her way to the top coming from a non-filmy background. She has made a mark in the film industry as well as the hearts of the people. Apart from being an actress and having a massive fan base, she is also a successful entrepreneur. She turned into a producer and launched her production house, “Clean Slate Films” with her brother in 2013. She has also launched her clothing brand, “Nush” on Myntra in 2017. She carries off every professional role effortlessly.

Kajal Aggarwal

Kajal is a gorgeous actress with excellent acting skills. She is also a strong businesswoman who started a high-end fashion jewellery brand named, “Marsala.” They are available both online and offline and is keeping Kajal extremely busy. She also picked up a 15% stake in the startup Okie Gaming, a subsidiary of Okie Ventures.

Samantha Ruth Prabhu

Samantha Ruth Prabhu is one of the most popular actresses in the country. She turned entrepreneur in 2020 with the launch of her clothing brand, “Saaki.” During the launch of the brand, she spoke about how she couldn’t afford designer clothes in her college days and with the launch of Saaki the actress wants the designer dresses to be accessible to everyone. Saaki had been her dream and reflection of her love for fashion and her journey in life.

Malaika Arora

In September 2021, Malaika Arora launched Malaika Arora Ventures with an objective to invest and associate with select brands in the segments like lifestyle, health, and wellness. A fitness enthusiast, Arora started a yoga studio called, “DivaYoga” and turned into a yoga entrepreneur. She is the style editor at the E-commerce clothing website, ‘The Label Life’. She curates the clothing line for the brand along with Bipasha Basu and Sussanne Khan. Arora is also the founder of Nude Bowls- a delivery-only food service.

Twinkle Khanna

Though Twinkle did have a successful film career, she expanded her horizons by being an entrepreneur. From being a hilarious column writer and the author of 3 books, Twinkle is now the founder of a digital media company named, “Tweak India.” The National award-winning movie ‘Padman’ was produced by her production house, Mrs Funnybones in 2016. She runs successfully an interior décor company, ‘The White Window’ and has her design stores in Mumbai.

Nayanthara

Lady superstar Nayanthara is one of the highest-paid actresses in the south film industry, and she is continuing to rule as the numero uno female actress. After turning into a producer, Nayanthara later became an entrepreneur. She is the owner of “Chai Wale,” a Food and Beverage Company and a Chennai-based cosmetic company named, “The Lip Balm.” Nayanthara has a production house named, “Rowdy Pictures.”

Alia Bhatt

Alia has always charmed the audiences with her multi-talented performances ever since her debut. She launched her own sustainable kids’ clothing line, “Ed-a-Mamma” to express her love for mother nature and children of the Earth. For the promotions, she touted the brand to be Atmanirbhar and home-grown. She also took initiative in her venture, “Coexist,” a platform highlighting issues and efforts around the animal and ecological welfare. She invested in Phool.co, a startup that converts floral waste into incense products and in Nykaa, the omnichannel lifestyle retailer. In February 2021, she launched her production house, “Eternal Sunshine Productions.”

Sushmita Sen

The first Indian woman to bag the title of “Miss Universe.” After a successful career in Bollywood, she became a businesswoman and launched a production company by the name, “Tantra Entertainment” in 2005. Apart from that, she owns her jewellery line in Dubai called “Renee Jewellers,” in Dubai. She also owns a chain of hotels and spas under her company called “Sensazione”, named after her elder daughter.

Tamannaah Bhatia

Tamannaah has been taking giant strides in the industry ever since, “Baahubali-The Beginning.” She considerably improved her speaking skills in Telugu and with Vamshi Paidipally’s, “Oopiri,” she dubbed her own voice for the first time in a Telugu film. The popular South India actress, who has a penchant for elegant jewellery, donned a new avatar of being a designer for her family-owned venture. The actor, along with her father Santhosh Bhatia, unveiled an online jewellery line www.witengold.com.

Rakul Preet Singh

Rakul Preet has become the most sought-after actress in Bollywood and has a roaring market down south and her fan base. She owns three franchisees of an Australian Gym called F-45, purely for her love for fitness. She has the vision of extending her service to several other places. She is the proud owner and stakeholder in Tennis Premier League’s Hyderabad Team

Shilpa Shetty

Shilpa is one of the fittest actresses in Bollywood and is often seen as a judge on television reality shows. She owns a chain of luxurious spas and salons called, “IOSIS.” She was also the owner of an IPL team, “Rajasthan Royals”. She’s also invested in a couple of high-end restaurants. She has co-authored a book, ‘The Great Indian Diet’ with fitness expert Luke Coutinho. Shilpa established Satyug Gold, one of her most ambitious ventures, which paved her way into being a jewellery designer. Recently she also unveiled an incredible new look of her restaurant, “Bastian” along with her husband Raj Kundra.
