Kolkata: Since Hoichoi rolled out 6 months back, one of its first Originals’ was Dupur Thakurpo, a popular adult comedy which quickly became a fan favourite with the advent of “Uma Boudi” (Boudi is the Bengali name for sister-in-law) played by Bengal film industry’s eminent actor, Swastika Mukherjee.
With the fans’ eagerly waiting for Season 2, Hoichoi decided to surprise them with a new Boudi called “Jhuma Boudi”. The biggest question in everyone’s mind was “Who is playing Jhuma Boudi?” Hoichoi team decided to keep this a secret till they revealed it in front of media on 6th at The Park Hotel through an innovative performance.
The role of Jhuma Boudi is being essayed by Mona Lisa (sometimes known by her birth name – Antara Biswas) who is an established actress in the Bhojpuri Film Industry. She did her debut in Bollywood with Blackmail, starring Ajay Devgn and Suniel Shetty and is well known for her participation in the reality television show, Bigg Boss 10.
Dupur Thakurpo Season 2 will be a continuation from Season 1 where the parents of all the Thakurpos (Devars or brothers-in-law) are admitted in a rehab after Jibon Babu complained to them about their sons, as they were disturbing his relationship with Uma Boudi. They are under the extensive care treatment in the rehab under Chhor Da. Chhor Da is a very strict character, and a misogynist who hates women specially Boudi’s. One day Chhor Da’s brother Bor Da comes to visit the rehab and asks to shelter his wife Jhuma for few days. After Jhuma
Boudi’s entry in the rehab, Chhor Da finds it hard maintaining the rehab’s disciplines as the Thakurpos (plus 2 new ones – Gandu and Chuchundar) are ecstatic beyond words. Will Chhor Da be able to get rid of their “Boudi-baji”? Or will he himself get “Boudified”?
