Mumbai: India’s historic victory at the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup India 2025 marked not only a monumental moment on the field but also a watershed in sports viewership. JioHotstar shattered digital records, with the final match attracting 185 million viewers, matching the audience numbers of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 Final — a first in cricket history.
The blockbuster finale, where the Women in Blue lifted their maiden ICC Women’s World Cup trophy, drew a peak concurrency of 21 million viewers, underscoring the rise of women’s cricket as a mainstream sporting spectacle. The entire tournament achieved a total reach of 446 million on digital, surpassing the combined audience of the last three ICC Women’s World Cups.
The final also saw a record 92 million viewers tuning in via Connected TV (CTV) — a figure on par with the CTV viewership of both the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 Final and the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 Final — reflecting the rapidly growing trend of large-screen sports viewing across Indian households.
Ishan Chatterjee, CEO – Sports, JioStar, said, “The ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup India 2025 has reaffirmed the growing stature of women’s cricket in India. The exceptional quality of cricket on display, especially the Indian team’s incredible performance, has driven record-breaking viewership and attracted a larger, more passionate fan base than ever before. This marks an important shift for women’s cricket — it is no longer just being watched; it is being celebrated by millions. It is inspiring a new generation of fans, athletes, and brands to stand behind the sport. This success is a collective achievement of ICC and BCCI for their vision, the players for their outstanding performances, the fans for their unwavering support, and brands that have championed women’s cricket.”
With Team India’s championship win, anticipation is already building for the TATA Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026, set to begin in January. The surge in viewership and fan engagement points toward an exciting new chapter for women’s cricket — one powered by digital-first audiences, dynamic storytelling, and a growing culture of equality in sport.
