Mumbai: IKEA India, the Swedish home furnishings giant, has announced the appointment of Patrik Antoni as CEO, effective August 2025. With over two decades of IKEA experience, Antoni returns to India to lead the company’s ambitious growth plans, working closely with the Country Retail Manager & CSO to strengthen leadership and accelerate expansion.
Antoni, who was part of the initial team that opened IKEA’s first Indian store in Hyderabad, brings extensive knowledge of the IKEA value chain and a track record of successful leadership across multiple international markets. In his new role, he will take on comprehensive responsibility for retail operations in India and oversee common topics across Ingka companies under the unified ‘One IKEA India’ strategy.
“I am honored and excited to return to India, a market that holds a special place in my heart and in my career,” said Patrik Antoni. “I am looking forward to build on the strong foundation that the team has laid and the many opportunities that lie ahead. India is a truly unique market with immense potential for growth. I look forward to bringing my experience, energy, and deep commitment to IKEA’s values to support our ambitious expansion plans, making IKEA even more accessible to the many people in India.”
Antoni’s appointment comes as IKEA seeks to capitalize on India’s strong economic trajectory and growing consumer base.
The leadership transition follows the decision of Susanne Pulverer, the current Country Retail Manager & CSO, to step down after more than 28 years with IKEA, including over eight years in India. Reflecting on her journey, she said, “I am very grateful for the incredible years at IKEA with many leadership learnings and with unforgettable experiences in India, this beautiful country with its beautiful people. While now handing over to a new leadership, I am excited to start a new chapter in my life.”
Recruitment for Pulverer’s successor is currently underway, as IKEA India continues its evolution toward becoming a more accessible and sustainable brand in the country.
