New Delhi: The India Today Group has announced significant leadership elevations as it sharpens its focus on Artificial Intelligence and production-led innovation across platforms.
Nilanjan Das has been appointed as the Group’s first Chief AI Officer (CAIO). A long-time media professional with a strong record of driving AI-led transformation within the organisation, Das will now lead the newly formed India Today AI Lab. Under his leadership, the Group has already launched a range of AI initiatives — including AI news anchors, AI pop stars, and AI-generated content across broadcast, print, and digital verticals.
In his new role, Das will be responsible for building AI-first capabilities to transform content creation, distribution, and monetisation, positioning India Today Group at the forefront of media-tech convergence. He will report directly to the top leadership and work closely with editorial, technology, and business teams to scale AI adoption across the organisation.
In another key elevation, Samkhya Edamaruku has been promoted to Group Managing Editor – Production. With this expanded mandate, he will now oversee style templates across all channels and continue to experiment with innovative storytelling formats that cut across platforms. He will also collaborate with the AI Lab to design cutting-edge showcases that blend traditional production with emerging technologies.
The appointments reflect the Group’s commitment to future-facing leadership and its intent to remain agile in a rapidly evolving media environment.
