Noida: The India Today Group has appointed veteran journalist and Harvard-certified nutritionist Sonal Mehrotra Kapoor to spearhead the launch of its upcoming health and wellness omni-platform brand — a first-of-its-kind initiative in India.
Kapoor will report to B.V. Rao, Consulting Editor of India Today Digital, and collaborate closely with Supriya Prasad, News Director of Aaj Tak, India Today TV, and Good News Today, on select projects.
Vice Chairperson Kalli Purie, in an internal communication to employees, hailed Kapoor as “a powerhouse storyteller, editor, and on-screen voice who has consistently championed award-winning content.” Purie added that Kapoor’s transition into a Harvard-certified nutritionist reflects her “deep commitment to driving meaningful, science-backed conversations on health and well-being at a time when India is undergoing nothing short of a health revolution.”
Kapoor brings over 15 years of newsroom experience to the role. She joins from Moneycontrol, where she served as editor for three and a half years. Prior to that, she spent nearly 12 years at NDTV, covering a range of beats and anchoring high-impact stories.
The forthcoming platform aims to tap into India’s growing appetite for credible, research-led health and wellness content, blending digital, television, and on-ground experiences under a unified brand.
