IPL 2024 first 15 matches: count of categories and advertisers increased by 63% and 26% – TAM

The media research agency TAM has released IPL 17 Advertising Update report which is based on the first 15 matches of IPL 17 and for all the channels on which matches are telecasted.

With a focus on the first 15 matches of IPL 17, the report provides a comprehensive analysis of indexed growth, category proliferation, advertiser trends, and emerging brands. Through this lens, stakeholders gain invaluable insights into the evolving dynamics of advertising strategies within the IPL ecosystem.

The report also comprises indexed growth of IPL 17 over IPL 16, count of categories, advertisers, and brands of IPL 17. The report also threw highlights on top categories and advertisers of this edition of IPL.  It also highlights on the new categories and brands in IPL 17 compared to IPL 16. 

The indexed Ad volume growth per Television channel for IPL 17 for 15 matches was at 101 when compared to 100 during IPL 16th season. 

When it comes to the count of categories and advertisers in IPL 17, the edition witnessed a growth of 62 Pc in categories and 26 pc growth in advertisers. The 16th edition had over 30 categories whereas the 17th edition had over 50 categories. When it comes to the number of advertisers the 16th IPL edition had over 40 and the 17th season had over 50 advertisers.

In terms of top categories, in 16th and 17th seasons, e-com gaming bagged the first slot with 20 and 19 pc respectively. The pan masala category which was at the second spot in 16th edition came down to the third slot in 17th edition of IPL. The soft drinks and biscuits category which was at the third and fourth slots in the 16th edition couldn’t find a slot in the 17th edition. The food product category came second with 10 pc in the 17th edition followed by pan masala with 10 pc. The cellular phones /smartphones came 4th with 7 pc followed by securities and share booking organizations with 7 pc. 

In short, the IPL 17th edition had 36 new categories and 71 new brands. The count of categories in IPL 17 compared to 16th edition were 16. 

The top 5 new categories in the 17th IPL edition were Range of food products, share booking organizations, internet service providers, e-com wallets, and face wash. 

The top 5 brands include, Parle Food Products, Airtel Xstream Fiber, Upstox, Fog, Angel One Super App.
