Mumbai: Earlier in the day, while Medianews4u.com broke the news about K Madhavan, MD for Star India’s South Business taking on Sanjay Gupta’s responsibility as Country Manager of Disney and Star India; market sources have now told us that K Madhavan will only be responsible for the Television Business of the media conglomerate in India.
Hotstar will be under Uday Shankar’s purview and all the key decisions regarding the platform, naturally will be taken by him. Uday has communicated the same in his internal comunication, according to sources.
K Madhavan’s will directly report into Uday Shankar but only for the Television Business (comprises Entertainment, Sports and Studios.)
Nitin Bawankule, who recently appointed in October 2019 to lead the Ad sales function for Star India, after this development will have dual reporting. As for the TV business he will report into K Madhavan and for Hotstar he will report into Uday Shankar.
Sanjay Gupta’s last day at Star India is going to be on the 27th of December, 2019.
Currently, K. Madhavan is also a Board Member and Vice President of the Indian Broadcasting Foundation (IBF).
