Hyderabad: Sun TV Network has appointed K Subramanyam (a) Subbu as the new Business Head of Gemini TV and other Telugu Cluster channels of the Network.
In his new role, Subbu will be assuming P&L responsibilities for the seven Telugu channels of Sun TV Network namely Gemini TV, Gemini TV HD, Gemini Music, Gemini Movies, Kushi TV, Gemini News and Gemini Comedy. He has taken charge from today (17th February)
Prior to this, Subbu was the Cluster Head of South Business in Zee Group with South Regional Sales responsibilities for 33 Channels and National Sales responsibilities for three South language channels Zee Tamil, Zee Telugu and Zee Kannada. Subbu has moved on from Zee Group on 22nd January after completing one and half year stint with the organisation.
Before joining Zee Group, He also had a long standing association with Eenadu Group that went beyond 15 years, in which he was National Head of Marketing and Sales. He handled the all India sales for all the 12 Channels launched by Eenadu Group.
With this appointment Sun TV Network has adopted the new structure of appointing Business Head for each language markets, while it is not known whether they will be creating similar structures for other markets too.
It may be noted that recently Gemini TV has also appointed Mr Cheerla Prabhakar Reddy as the Fiction Head in the 1st week of February and entrusted him the job of lifting the channel’s fiction fortune.
Subbu is expected to play an aggressive role to turn around the fortune of Gemini TV that is standing at No. 4 in the AP market for the past couple of weeks. On the other hand he enjoys the advantage of being the local boy of Telugu market and in his two decades of market exposure, he has overcome many ups and downs.
