Chennai: The creative folks of Chennai started trooping in to ITC Grand Chola for the 39th edition of MADDYs 2019, the Annual Awards Nite of Advertising Club of Madras. Amidst a grand setting the event started off with the welcome address by M M Charly the President of the Club.
This was followed by a thought provoking key note address by Ramesh Narayan, Founder, Canco Advertising and Vice President of IAA who extolled the advertising professionals to use Communication for Good. He cited various examples of how creative people could use communication for social good and the changes it could bring about in the minds of our people and also the society at large.
A Curtain raiser which evoked cheers and laughter in the way it was creatively executed using Memes as a theme set the tone for the evening. With over 30 categories and close to more than 800 entries vying for the trophy, The Creative Agency of the year went to OPN who won the most number of Golds across categories for work done for Chennai Super Kings, Star Vijay etc. The other notable winners were Presto, B Positive, Stark Communications, Banana Brand Works, and The Hindu Group etc.
The event has a heart touching moment when the award for the Best Illustration was given away. Ad Club Madras honoured the late illustrator Mr Sam Rajapandan by naming it in his memory and also called on his wife to give away the award.
Platinum Madison Delhi won the Media Agency of the year and almost swept the entire awards in the media category with the most number of medals.
The eventwas powered by Daily Hunt and Co-sponsored by Sathya, Skore Condoms, Perfect 99, Idhayam Gingelly Oil, Iris Perfumes.
