Mumbai: McDonald’s India (West & South), operated by Westlife Foodworld, has once again joined hands with celebrated chef and Padma Shri awardee Sanjeev Kapoor to unveil a brand-new campaign spotlighting its latest innovation – the ‘Protein Plus Slice’. This plant-based, protein-packed addition is the latest offering under the company’s Real Food, Real Good platform, building on the successful Multi-Millet Bun launch from last year.
The newly released brand film, conceptualized by DDB Mudra, stars Chef Kapoor himself behind the McDonald’s counter, where he engages with a young fitness enthusiast and his witty younger brother. As the older sibling orders his go-to burger, Chef Kapoor introduces him to the Protein Plus Slice—each offering 5g of protein per slice. In a humorous twist, the younger brother escalates the sibling rivalry by demanding three slices, underscoring how the protein offering can be personalized by age, taste, or need.
The 100% vegetarian, plant-based Protein Plus Slice was co-developed with CSIR – Central Food Technological Research Institute (CSIR-CFTRI) and enables customers to add 5g, 10g, or more protein to their favourite burgers—without compromising on flavour.
Akshay Jatia, Chief Executive Officer, Westlife Foodworld, said, “At McDonald’s India, we have always believed in giving our customers more choice, and this time, we are giving them the power to personalize their protein intake. The Protein Plus Range allows them to enjoy their favourite McDonald’s burgers without compromising on their protein needs or the taste. It also reflects our ongoing commitment to our ‘Real Food, Real Good’ philosophy, bringing together flavour, nutrition, and food science. Together, we remain committed to crafting menu items that are both wholesome and delicious, combining locally available ingredients in a way where great taste and nutrition go hand in hand.”
Chef Sanjeev Kapoor added, “It feels great to continue my association with a brand like McDonald’s that constantly innovates its menu, suiting the tastes and preferences of varied customers. Their entry into the protein enhancement initiative is commendable, and I like the fact that their Protein Plus range perfectly balances taste with nutrition. I believe this range is a true innovation in personalized nutrition.”
Rahul Mathew, Chief Creative Officer & Executive Director, DDB India, shared, “McDonald’s is for everyone. It’s a belief that the brand is built on. And it’s this belief that we’ve extended to extra-protein seekers with the new Protein Plus Slices. So, whether you’re just making up for your nutritional needs or following a workout regimen, McDonald’s is for you as well.”
The launch of the Protein Plus Range marks McDonald’s India’s second major collaboration with CFTRI, reflecting its ongoing push to blend nutrition and innovation with consumer convenience.
The film closes with Chef Kapoor’s signature sign-off: “That’s My McDonald’s”, reinforcing the brand’s effort to resonate with every Indian customer—from kids to fitness lovers.
The Protein Plus burgers are now available across McDonald’s outlets in West and South India, including Drive-Thru locations, on McDelivery App, and through Swiggy—making it easier than ever to enjoy nutrition-packed indulgence.
