Meta Platforms has taken a bold leap into AI-generated entertainment with the launch of Vibes, a short-form video stream powered entirely by artificial intelligence. The feature, now available on the Meta AI app and website, allows users to create, remix, and share algorithmically produced clips that can be distributed seamlessly across Instagram and Facebook.
Unlike TikTok or Instagram Reels, where creators record and upload content, Vibes relies solely on AI to generate visuals, audio, and stylistic variations. Users can build videos from scratch, reimagine existing ones, or instantly remix clips from the feed—turning the platform into a dynamic playground of synthetic creativity.
Currently in preview, Meta is drawing on collaborations with third-party AI innovators such as Midjourney and Black Forest Labs, while also signaling that its in-house models will gradually power the experience.
The rollout comes amid a broader restructuring at the company. In June, Meta consolidated its artificial intelligence efforts under Meta Superintelligence Labs, streamlining work across four verticals: research, foundation models, product integration, and infrastructure. The move underscores CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s ambition to place AI at the center of Meta’s next phase of growth.
With digital ad revenues showing signs of moderation and development of its Llama 4 model encountering hurdles, Meta is betting on AI-driven content as a new monetization frontier. The company envisions Vibes not just as an entertainment feature but as part of a larger ecosystem of AI tools—ranging from chatbots to image generators—that could eventually unlock fresh commercial opportunities.
By blending the addictive pull of short-form video with the limitless output of generative AI, Meta is effectively redrawing the competitive landscape. If Vibes takes off, it could signal the start of a new era where content consumption and creation are no longer bound by human input, but continuously shaped by algorithms.
