Singapore: Mondelez International has announced the appointment of Abhiroop Chuckarbutty as President for its Southeast Asia business, a key growth market for the global snacking giant.
Chuckarbutty brings with him more than two decades of leadership experience across diverse geographies and categories. He began his career with Unilever, starting as an area sales and customer manager before moving up to become Vice President – Foods and Refreshment for the MENA region. In his tenure, he also served as Director – Personal Care for the Gulf region, where he drove growth and profitability across five major categories: Skin Cleansing, Hair Care, Oral Care, Deodorants, and Skin Care.
In 2021, Chuckarbutty joined ekaterra—the tea business carved out of Unilever—as President, Tea for the AMET region (Africa, Middle East, and Turkey). He played a pivotal role in steering the separation of ekaterra from Unilever in 2022. His responsibilities spanned the full value chain, from manufacturing to marketing and sales. He also spearheaded the establishment of the new standalone organization, overseeing entity creation, IT systems, and governance structures, to build a future-ready business.
At Mondelez, Chuckarbutty will oversee strategy, operations, and growth for the Southeast Asia region, a dynamic market for the company’s portfolio of power brands, which include Oreo, Cadbury Dairy Milk, Toblerone, Ritz, and Tang. His appointment underscores Mondelez International’s commitment to strengthening its presence and driving sustainable growth in high-potential emerging markets.
