Bengaluru: In one of the most unconventional recruitment announcements of the year, Mygate, India’s leading community management app, has invited applications for a CEO role — with a twist. The position comes with no salary, only purpose, empathy, and responsibility.
The buzz began when Mygate Co-founder & CEO Abhishek Kumar posted a LinkedIn job listing calling for “a strong leader with infinite patience, empathy, and the ability to get things done.” The description painted a vivid picture of the ideal candidate — someone thick-skinned, calm under criticism, part call-centre executive, part event manager, and available most weekends.
The intriguing post quickly went viral, with online audiences debating its intent — until the reveal came through a brand film that clarified the true purpose behind the campaign. The CEO role was not for Mygate itself but for the countless housing societies across India. In this context, CEO stood for Chief Everything Officer, a creative tribute to the unsung heroes who manage residential communities — the members of Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) and Management Committees.
The film shines a light on these everyday leaders — the people ensuring that maintenance fees are collected, security runs smoothly, and festivals are celebrated seamlessly. Despite their essential contributions, RWAs are often misunderstood or criticized as being too bureaucratic or over-involved. Mygate’s campaign uses humour and empathy to shift this perception, showcasing the dedication and selflessness behind their roles.
Through a relatable portrayal of community life, the film reminds viewers that behind every circular, complaint resolution, or committee meeting are individuals who volunteer their evenings and weekends to maintain order and harmony — all without any financial compensation.
Abhishek Kumar, Co-founder & CEO, Mygate, explained the motivation behind the initiative,“Everyone has their qualms about the RWA, and thinks they can do the job better — and the person with the most amount of criticism is often the last to volunteer. This campaign is our way of acknowledging the people who actually put in the work. They may not be perfect, but they keep our communities together. They are, in every sense, the Chief Everything Officers of our societies.”
By spotlighting the selfless contribution of RWA members, Mygate’s ‘Compensation: Purpose & Joy’ campaign reframes the narrative around community governance — from one of complaint to one of appreciation. It also underlines the platform’s deeper mission of strengthening community living through collaboration, empathy, and awareness.
With this campaign, Mygate continues to evolve beyond being a digital facilitator of gated communities to becoming a brand that celebrates the people who keep them functioning.
